Vista Charter School, in Montrose Colorado, is an alternative high school where students work at their own pace and receive credits toward their diploma as they achieve them. Vista Charter School was housed in two leased, light industrial buildings in different locations on the campus. Blythe Group provided Master Planning, Grant Assistance and then Owner Representation and Project Management services for a new Vista Charter School facility.
Blythe Group + co. reviewed the existing site, analyzed planning requirements and used building design elements to Master Plan the site for long-term success. Our team reviewed infrastructure, topography, circulation, drainage, etc. to establish site options related to the school's long-term needs.
Following a successful BEST submittal process and public vote, Blythe Group was retained to manage the design and construction processes for the new school/ The new facility is much more suited to educational use and integrates with and compliments the natural and existing features of the site. Parking, landscaping, circulation, and future expansion were all considered.
The Design/Build delivery method was used with a local General Contractor having been selected to provide that service. The new school was occupied for the 2012-2013 school year. After the first full year of occupancy, Vista Charter School received a USGBC LEED Gold certification.
