10,500 Square Feet
Completed in January 2023, Fire Station 8 building sits on 2 acres of land purchased by the city of grand junction. The building is located at 31 and D 1/2 Road. Fire Station 8 is nicknamed the “Two Pony Station” after two ponies that were on the property when it was purchased. The station’s immediate service area is estimated to include about 5,100 homes and 181 business parcels across six square miles. The total building area is 10,500 square feet and houses 3 to 4 pieces of fire equipment including an engine and ambulance. The station is staffed 24/7 by 3 shifts of up to 8 fire personnel. The building includes office space, residential areas, storage, fitness, and drive-through bays for fire apparatus. The design includes 24 total parking spaces, 2 of which are ADA accessible spaces. A fenced courtyard on the south side offers an outdoor area for the fire crew to enjoy, including a space for outdoor cooking. Part of the building is constructed using wood stud framing while the engine bay was built with reinforced CMU block. The exterior façade features a combination of Brick and fiber cement siding. This station will provide fire and emergency medical service to the southeast area of the city, including both City of Grand Junction and Grand Junction Rural Fire Protection District service areas.
