10,500 Square Feet

The new Fire Station 7 is currently under construction, and it sits on 3.28 acres of land. It is located at the southeast intersection corner of H and 23 ½ Road, just south of Appleton Elementary School. It has a total footprint of approximately 10,500 square feet. The city of Grand Junction acquired the lot due to its well-suited location for providing coverage and meeting the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) response time standards. The building will house 3 to 4 fire equipment pieces, including an engine and an ambulance. The station will be staffed by 3 shifts of up to 7 fire personnel each. Inside, you’ll find office spaces, residential quarters, storage facilities, and fitness amenities. This fire station is unique in such a way that it will also incorporate a decontamination shower for firefighters to limit the spread of hazardous substances inside the living quarters. The design also features 18 parking spaces, with 2 ADA accessible spots. The building’s exterior is a combination of brick and fiber cement siding, offering a modern look. The engine bay is constructed with reinforced CMU block wall, ensuring durability and strength. Concrete sidewalks will encircle the building perimeter facilitating outdoor navigation. A fenced courtyard on the west side provides a pleasant outdoor area for fire personnel, adding to the station’s functional and comfortable environment. The station aims for both functionality and aesthetic that align seamlessly with the City of Grand Junction fire department vision. It is estimated to be completed by April, 2025.
