The Kesner building is a designated structure on the Colorado Register of Historic Places. The Building was originally built in 1922 and was a stand alone structure. Over the years, the high school grew around the building connecting to it so the classroom spaces within could be used. With the demolition of the existing high school, Kesner was to once again be a stand alone building and be completely renovated. The building houses the District offices and board room function as well as the Horizons Exploratory Academy as alternative high school.
In an effort to bring the building back to some resemblance of its early years, the main entry which had been closed off was reintroduced. On the interior, the main corridor was reestablished as well. The interior spaces received some new partitions, all new finishes and new doors. The mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems were updated and brought up to code and accounted for the bulk of work.
