Brian Motz
Architectural Intern
Growing up with a general contractor for a father and an interior designer for a mother, it was pretty much inevitable that Brian would end up loving building and designing… unless you ask his dad, he still thinks Brian is crazy. Dinner table debates about whether form or function was more important were Brian's early design school. Brian followed that passion through a degree in Psychology, always sneaking human interaction with spaces into the research projects. His time as a Target Store Director gave Brian invaluable experience in team and project management. Now, in both roles as an M.Arch student and Architectural Intern, Brian seeks to blend it all together in what he calls "Relational Architecture"—designing spaces that bring people together and hopefully bring a little extra light and joy to others in the process.

"My biggest accomplishment in life is somehow convincing my amazing wife to marry me. Together, we have three beautiful, witty kids who far too often make us look like we know what we’re doing as parents."
Brian is a fifth-generation Grand Valley native, with his great-great-grandparents homesteading in Palisade. These days, Brian loves engaging with his kids in their passions—tennis, skiing, music, and movies. They, of course, always enjoy it when Brian engages them in his passions—the human mind, quantum physics, the universe, and philosophy/theology. Brian loves diving into life’s big questions and can’t help but make connections back to design.
