Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado

Renovation of an 1889 brick farmhouse, and conversion into counseling center for Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado. Codes required a conversion from Residential to Commercial Occupancy and measures to ensure accessibility. Building consists of meeting/counseling rooms, crafts rooms, and a coffee shop.

New medical office building containing separate medical suites for general practice: pediatrics, diagnostics, psychiatry, dentistry and physical therapy. These businesses are housed primarily on the main and second levels. The lower garden level is below grade and opens up into sunken plazas rimmed by terraced retaining walls and sloping lawns. This lower level contains administration offices, conference space, support spaces, storage additional medical offices and an exercise room.

New facility complex for the district. Four buildings- Administration/ office/ lab, vehicle storage, wash bay and chemical storage. The office is wood-framed with masonry veneer connectors to vehicle storage which is a pre-engineered steel building. Wash bay and chemical storage are both concrete block.

New city hall to provide space for administration, council meeting auditorium, training, community development/planning, finance, public works, clerk, information services, personnel, and municipal court.  Blythe Group + co. performed the exterior design, space planning, interior architecture and design, and furniture, fixture, and equipment design packages.  Blythe Group + co. provided approximately 63% of the architectural design man-hours, 65% of all the architectural design drawings, and 100% of the furniture, fixture, and equipment design.

The Gunnison County Public Works Facility is comprised of an Administrations/Vehicle Maintenance Building, Vehicle Heated Storage Building, and 6.2 Acre Equipment Yard. Designed alternates include an indoor Vehicle Wash Bay, Cold Vehicle Storage Building, and a 1.2 Acre Recycling Facility, to be developed on an adjacent lot. The project also includes site development and selective landscaping on a 15.8 Acre site in the Gold Basin Industrial Park, a former location of uranium mill tailings which have been fully mitigated. 

 

The facility was designed and constructed with energy-efficiency in mind, following principles in the LEED NC 2009 Checklist. The design incorporates daylighting strategies, roof slopes to provide natural snow melting, shedding for pedestrian safety, and the maintenance shop includes in-floor hydronic heating for occupant comfort.

This project consists of a $1.3 million expansion and renovation of the town hall facility for the Town of Parachute.  The expansion element includes an addition of approximately 2,500 square feet of office space to the existing building.  The remodeling work includes entrance drainage improvement, window replacements, mechanical and electrical system upgrade and construction of a new trussed roof over the entire building (approximately 8,046 square feet) to replace the existing flat roof.

A renovation of Fire Station No. 1 in downtown Grand Junction on the Public Safety Facility Campus.  The Administration function of the Fire Department was moved out of this building to allow expansion of response staff from this location.  The entire building was renovated to bring it into compliance with current building and energy codes, as well as to update the functional spaces of the building to meet staff needs.  A small addition was built to house specific functions for the vehicle bays and to separate contaminated equipment from the living quarters of the building.

The new Grand Valley Power Headquarters Facility is located at the southwest corner of 22 Road and H ½ Road in Grand Junction Colorado. The building consists of 23,000 sf of office space and 17,500 sf of vehicle storage/warehouse. The site accommodates lay down areas, truck access for power equipment and a fueling station. Future site is programmed to include a 10,000 sf vehicle maintenance shop and additional fenced-in yard space.

 

Energy savings and efficiency was the focus of the programming. Strategies throughout the building such as photovoltaics, day lighting, and radiant heating provide a highly productive attractive design solution.

New open parking structure built as a joint venture between the City of Grand Junction, Alpine Bank, and the Downtown Development Authority. The structure accommodates both short term and long term lease parking. The front facade was designed to complement the surrounding historic buildings. The stair/elevator towers are designed to be accessed directly from future zero lot line structures housing retail, office space and residential occupancies on either end of the building.
