OUR FOUNDERS
In 1996, Roy and Pamela Blythe founded Blythe Design + co. in Grand Junction, Colorado. Brought to the western slope by the design and construction of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center, they soon made a home and business here in the Grand Valley, embracing the small-town lifestyle while embodying big-city capabilities for various public, institutional, and commercial projects. With a combined experience of more than 80 years in specialized design and construction, Roy and Pamela delighted clients with their in-depth involvement throughout the design and construction process, honesty in fiscal responsibility, and keen eye for memorable aesthetic results. The Blythe team established an influential presence as designers of the western slope; their wisdom, creativity, and technical excellence provides the foundation and ongoing inspiration for BG + co. and our fellow community partners.

Roy depends on his ability to recognize and direct the talents of a team. His 40+ years of experience gives him the wisdom to make effective and practical decisions in a timely manner. His experience includes in-depth involvement with the construction process from conceptualization to realization. Roy brings creative solutions to every facet of the design process from client and site requirements to budget and time constraints.

Pamela has 40+ years of professional experience and has worked on a collection of varied project types including commercial, institutional, educational, and healthcare. As a Registered Interior Designer Pamela brings to each project extensive knowledge of design, programming, and space planning, as well as a thorough understanding of building systems related to commercial construction. Pamela’s technical background is the basis for providing cost-effective planning solutions without sacrificing the overall aesthetic result.

John M. Potter, PE

John has 30+ years of experience as a U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps officer and as a civilian Project Manager / Owner’s Representative / Construction Administrator with extensive knowledge of facilities as well as several years experience in actual construction work. His vast experience covers all phases of facilities - assessment, planning/design, construction, operation, alteration/ repair/ maintenance/ renovation and demolition - in all types of buildings including corporate, justice, educational, institutional, public, healthcare and residential. In addition to his civil engineering background, Mr. Potter is an International Code Council certified Plans Examiner and Commercial Building Inspector and a U.S. Green Building Council LEED® Accredited Professional.

Peter T. Icenogle, AIA

Peter has a practical background with a diverse array of projects and delivery methods. This background encompasses all phases of the design process from Conceptual Planning through Construction Administration and Project Closeout. While a talented designer, his greatest strengths are in the areas of practical, ‘nuts-and-bolts’ detailing and design. This leads to well-detailed project documents which provide for long-lasting and low maintenance facilities. As a Project Manager, Peter has successfully led and coordinated large teams of consultants allowing projects to be completed on time and within budget. Peter's work with BG+co. includes K-12 educational facilities, public safety buildings, detention centers, large and small commercial projects, manufacturing facilities and more. Through this experience, Peter has learned when to listen and when to lead. This helps him to provide effective solutions for any situation which may arise throughout the course of a project.

Burke has gained experience as an architectural draftsman, licensed contractor, owner's representative and as the head of facilities management for a 26 acre, 90,000 sf facility. Through this experience, he has developed a technical understanding of building materials and contractors, sub-contractors, and clients.
As BG+co.'s BIM Manager, his proficiency in Revit software is unparalleled. Burke continues to be on the cutting edge of this software as he helps to move the Western Slope forward to more integrated design document delivery.
