Bum, Bum, Bum, Bummm! Conductor Jeff Reed and the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra discuss and perform Beethoven's masterpiece, the Symphony No. 5 in C minor.

Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67 between 1804 and 1808. The symphony, one of the most popular compositions in all of classical music, begins with the well-known four-note "short-short-short-long" motif.

BGCO Music Director Jeff Reed will discuss why this symphony is considered a masterpiece and how Beethoven composed the thirty-minute symphony out of those four notes. The discussion will end with an uninterrupted performance of the work.
